| Today a random memory was triggered from substituting. One day I was substituting for a 6th grade science class and I noticed these two kids passing a note between each other so I took it. On the note was a "rap" expressing feelings of betrayal from one kid to the other. It was a super long rap, but her was my favorite line:
If you ride wit' me then you die wit' me!
This made me laugh histerically, but seriously, this is ridiculous. You can quote me on this, mainstream rappers will be the downfall of our youth.
| Home again. Usually when I come home I'm a hermit, but I've only been home for 7 hours and I've already hung out w/ my friend Travis, his wife and his little kid. It was great. And tomorrow I'm having breakfast with my friend Ashley. Finally! I'm feeling social again.
Our tour went really well. We met a lot of new people and were able to hang out w/ new friends and old. Thank you Lynchburg VA! We had such a great time. I can't describe it. However, I picked up a bad habit and I now have to quit smoking. What is it about smoking that makes it so appealing?
Hope you kids are well. | | |
| Matt Jenkins got jawbreaker's "Dear You" for me for free. I've been trying to buy a Jawbreaker CD for two years now and everytime I go to a record store to buy a CD they are always out. I realize that the the jawbreaker purist will say, "Eric you need to get 24 Hour Revenge Theory. It's so much better." To you I say who cares. Did I mention that he got the cd for free! How awesome is that?
In other news I have been reading a book called The Emerging Church: Vintage Christianity for New Generations. It's rocking my world and causing me to think again - Something I fell I haven't done in two months. I hate the word postmodern, but it is something that I am coming to terms with. I guess it isn't so bad if you think of it as "after-modernism". We are heading into a new era with a new way of thinking and you can't deny that.
I'm going back on tour as of Friday. I wanted to be able to buy a new amp before tour, but it did not happen so I will only be able to play Life Will Pass You By when I can borrow an amp at certain shows. This kind of sucks b/c it is a fun song to play live but oh well. I'm trying to get excited about touring. I'm not. I'm more excited to see people than I am about playing shows for people. That is bad. I don't think I like being a front man. You have to be funny and witty. I try to think about what I'm going to say too much, so on this tour I say screw it. I'm just going to say what I want or just be quiet if I don't feel like saying anything. You know what I think is funny? When a front man or a band says, "How are you guys feeling tonight?" they don't really give a crap, but it is standard. Why say something if you don't mean it. And usually the answer to that question is "Wooooo". People are feeling wooo? Does that mean they are feeling Asian?
| I'm home. I guess it's still home? Yes it's still home even if you don't want to be there. It's been weird being back in Russell, KY. I miss my friends, new and old. I'm thinking about moving come Feb. or Mar. I've come to a point in my life where I don't think I can stay in Ashland, KY any longer. I'm praying about opportunities that would have me moving elsewhere.
